My Philosophy

My aim is to lay a fundamental foundation that provides the athlete with the tools necessary to achieve what they are truly capable of. To do this, I take proven principles from the likes of Matt Wenning, Joe Kenn, Dave Tate, and many others to create a customized approach catered toward the lifter. Among many principles, some include Wenning Warmups, which create work capacity, target weaknesses, and prime the body for a workout. Another principle is creating structural balance within the body to prevent injury by prioritizing posterior chain work.

Athletes can expect coaching that is targeted towards injury prevention, longevity, and making their weaknesses their strengths.

ABOUT ME

My name is Brendan Chick. I am an Exercise Science student at SUNY Brockport. Throughout my adolescence and teenage years, I struggled immensely with my weight. In my late teenage years, I began exercising with friends and managed to lose weight. Although I was exercising, it was not with high effort. I always shied away from exerting myself too hard. That was until I got asked to squat with a friend for the 1,000th time. I was going to come up with an excuse as to why I couldn’t, but I decided to go. Somehow, he got me to work up to a one-rep max, and I squatted 340 lbs. I had never squatted over 225 lbs before then. Well, it was after that squat that I became obsessed with getting stronger. I started to ask myself what I could be capable of, and that led me to powerlifting. Not only did it lead to powerlifting, but it also led me to loving the educational side of lifting. I wanted to know how I could get stronger.

That simple question has led to now three years of competing in powerlifting, a pursuit of academics, and coaching clients of my own to reach their goals. There is an outpouring of passion I have for the exercise world. If I’m able to share that with others and impact them in a way where they become better, that’s all I could ask for.
